Subway and rail service changes: May 12

Jun 23, 2023

Tomorrow is National Train Day! 🚂

We'd like to celebrate by thanking you, our riders, for choo-choo-choosing us to get you where you need to go every day.

If you're taking a trip with us this weekend, all aboard for some important service updates.

train riders, your stations are getting a (much-needed) makeover ✨

Beginning at 11:45 p.m. Friday evening and lasting 24/7 through October 2023, we're temporarily closing the Manhattan-bound platforms at 111 St and 82 St to give them a top-to-bottom renovation. We'll be reconstructing platforms and stairs, upgrading lighting and windscreens, and adding CCTV cameras, art, and more. Once the work is finished, we'll begin renovating the Flushing-bound platforms at those stations. This is part of a larger project to modernize several stations between 52 St and 111 St.

Jetting away via JFK on Saturday? ✈️ From 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, trains won't run to/from Howard Beach-JFK Airport because of track maintenance. For direct service to/from JFK, consider taking the or to Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av-JFK or the LIRR to Jamaica.

Here's what else is happening this weekend:

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

And don't forget to sign up for the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get these service changes directly in your inbox, with more than enough time to plan your weekend travel. Subscribe here.
